PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has reached 70 million copies sold and downloaded in less than three years since its launch, a remarkable achievement for what is considered to all the effects, the progenitor of the explosion of the Battle Royale modern.
The game was officially launched in December 2017, preceded by a phase of Early Access game march of the same year. In June 2018 PUBG had already registered 50 million copies sold, and since then have been distributed to more than 20 million units on all major platforms including PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it is not clear whether the mobile version (distributed by Tencent) is included in the count or not.
In spite of the number of active players is falling and does not reach the levels of the boom of 2017 and 2018, PUBG continues to be one of the Battle Royale, the most loved, especially with regards to the competitive, with tournaments and competitions eSports in every corner of the world, and the rich prize money. Developers will continue to support PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with new content and at the moment there are no plans for a sequel.
