According to a report circulated by GamesIndustry.biz week from 16 to 22 march , sales of consoles have increased in several territories including Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, precisely because of the emergency Coronavirus that has forced millions of people to stay at home to avoid further increasing the infections.
During the week in question there has been a boom of digital downloads from the main store and also the sales of the console increased by 155% compared to the previous week with 260,000 more divided between the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
It is stressed as for example in Spain there has been an increase in the sale of console of 27% in the first week of Lockdown, and 66% in the second, while France recorded a +140% during the entire month. Sales growth also in the United Kingdom, respectively, 126% in the first week of the block and 250% in the second. In Australia however the sales of the console increased by 300% in two weeks.
On the front software one of the games that have most benefited from the boost in sales seems to be Animal Crossing New Horizons, one of the main outputs of march, warmly welcomed by audiences and critics around the world.
