After Black Ops 4, a chapter that is entirely multiplayer with a lot of battle royale, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has taken a step back by proposing a more traditional experience, with a single player campaign and a component multiplayer to mold more classic.
Infinity Ward has also said goodbye to the Season Pass, which offered new content for a fee, and the loot boxes, cases, crates and provided objects in a way that is completely random. These systems are “old” have been replaced by updates totally free, and on a seasonal basis provide the same content to all the players(avoiding the fragmentation that was created with the season pass), and from the Battle Pass, a progression system transparent, but it is totally optional, that provides cosmetic items exclusive and perfectly known to all.
Well, that strategy is paying off: during the last meeting with the shareholders, the president of Activision’s Rob Kostich stated that the players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are spending more money in-game than in the past. The president has not provided specific numbers, but said that the increase in expenditure compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 can be quantified with a percentage to two digits.
“Rather than provide to certain portions of the community, and some in-game content, now we are focusing on free content for all, to increase the interest of the whole community”. The efforts of Activision, addressed to “the creation of a better experience for all players”, have also led to the implementation of cross-play and cross-progression.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, remember, is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Recently it was confirmed the return of the Ghost and Rust in Season 2, while a declaration of Activision has made you think the introduction of the Battle Royale.
