During the CES 2020, AMD was one of the protagonists, and has unveiled the new names to mark the technology FreeSync, now divided into FreeSync Premium and Premium Pro.
The company has decided for this division for the purpose of clarity, since there are more than 1000 certified display. According to the division, therefore, the new nomenclature is based on 3 levels.
The base level is the AMD FreeSync, a name that defines all those display with a refresh rate under 120Hz, low-latency characteristics are quite common. At the intermediate level, we find AMD’s FreeSync Premium, which applies to those display with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz, Full HD resolution and minimum LFO (Low Framerate Compensation).
Finally, at the third level, we find AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro, which designates the display with a refresh rate of 120Hz (or higher), HDR and the features of the other levels.
