The legendary concept artist Syd Mead, famous for his work on films such as Blade Runner and Tron, has died. He is 86 years old.

Mead had announced his retirement only in September. His career as a concept artist has seen him work on projects such as the previously mentioned Blade Runner (and its sequel, the Blade Runner 2049), and Tron, along with Star Trek, Aliens, and Elysium. He has also helped with Gundam.

Well-known for his work as a concept artist, Mead has also left its mark as a futurist and corporate artist, working for companies such as Ford, Philips, and United States Steel, often providing drawings of his visions, daring to the future.

The influence of Mead on the video games, from vehicles to architecture, is almost too big to be summarized, but can be viewed in the projects on which she has worked directly (as the series CyberRace) and indirectly (the visual style of the series, Mass Effect definitely has a lot to Mead).
