At the launch of Death Stranding, we have witnessed the polarization of the reviews of the critics on the new blockbuster from Hideo Kojima. The tone of the debate raging between the supporters and the detractors of the title produces so yet another case of the Review Bombing on the main aggregators of reviews.

On the pages Metacritic, for example, against a Metascore of 83 out of 100 (the average of the final marks awarded by magazines international), the post-apocalyptic adventure of Kojima has a more modest User Score of 6.2 out of 10.

To determine this important gap between the reviews of the printing industry and of the players that have published their review fan made Death Stranding is the high number of users, in a way that is why they have decided to hold the game affibbiandogli a vote no more than 4 out of 10.

At the time of writing, the 1994 reviews received by users of Metacritic well 772 are Negative ones: to the front of this Review Bombing, many fans of Death Stranding have decided to respond by posting their own review of the amateur tenor diametrically opposite, with the votes of 10 out of 10, with the ultimate purpose to balance the User Score average. In this way, however, even the advocates of Death Stranding serve to highlight the huge limitations of this kind of mechanisms on which they are based, aggregators of reviews.

Recently, also other video games have been the center of similar phenomena, albeit with different motivations and purposes: if in the case of the Review Bombing of the Astral Chain, for example, the criticism of the fans have regarded the decision of Platinum Games to launch exclusive title on the Nintendo Switch, in the case of Borderlands 3 to be the underlying factor of the bombardment of negative reviews was that of theexclusive Epic Games Store on the PC version.
